St.Georges Ladies finish on a high

Our ladies team won their last match at Shifnal and secured the league title. Well done Libby and the team!

Disability teams honour Stan

On Sunday St.Georges Disability team hosted Colwyn Bay Macs. Before the game both teams held a minutes applause in honour of our late President Stan Higgins. Stan, along with Eric Lomas , was instrumental in bringing disability cricket to St.Georges CC back in 1993.

Congratulations to Sam Morgan and his 1st team squad on becoming SCCL Div 1 winners! Promotion back to the SCCL Premier Division was secured last week and the league title was clinched yesterday at home with a winning draw over Wellington. After relegation from the premier in 2019 and the player exodus that followed, the squad had to be almost entirely rebuilt. It was pleasing that this was done largely with players who learned the game at St.Georges as youngsters. It has been a great season and let’s try and win the last two games as well! Incidentally, yesterday’s match sponsor was our recently departed club president Stan Higgins, whose funeral many of us attended on Friday. We’d like to think that he enjoyed the day!

A great performance too by the 2nd XI in chasing down a challenging target of 265 at Chelmarsh keeps them firmly in contention for promotion as well. Free week for the 3rd team and the 4th XI play Pontesbury today.  Click here for all the scores.
