Dennis Marsh

Word has reached us via Sheila Angeloff that Dennis Marsh, her brother, who was a prominent St.Georges Player in the 1960s and 1970s, has recently died. Dennis will be remembered by all those associated with the club during those years. There will be a family funeral at Bristol Crematorium on Friday 26th January at 10:30 followed by a memorial service at 11:45 at Pull Methodist Church BS20 0ES and then refreshments at Lodway Cricket Club BS20 0HB. I understand that Ashley Smith is attending and can offer a list to people who would like to go.

Mike Waldron Plays Sax – Saturday 16th December

This Saturday evening in the club bar. This a fundraiser to help us cover the costs of running the cricket club in 2018. Please come along and support it. Admission is free to members of St.Georges Sports and Social Club and only £1 for non-members

The 2017 Annual General Meeting of the the club will be held at 8.00 pm on Thursday 9th November 2017. All members are encouraged to attend to play their part in influencing decisions and future plans.

2017 Trophy Winners

…. And so another season draws to a close. After the last match on 23rd September, members gathered in the club for a few drinks and to present the seasons individual awards. The Mike Brennan “Spirit of the Team” award was presented to Paul and Dave Smart in recognition of the huge amount of work they have performed for the club in 2017 and also in many past seasons. Aussie Mike Brennan played for St.Georges in seasons 2002-2004 and following his untimely passing at the age of only 33, Mike’s family presented this trophy to the club in his memory. Madonna, Mike’s wife sends this message: “The blokes haven’t aged a bit !!  Mike would be so humbled by them winning his trophy”

St. Georges Girls triumph once again

St. Georges U13 Girls after winning the county U13 hardball competition at Shifnal. This season the girls also won the league and the county softball competition. Well done girls, and also Andy, Chelle and Lisa for all their hard work in looking after the girls this year.

Burton Borough Girls in National Finals

Burton Borough U13 girls team were recently runners up in the national final held at Loughborough. The bulk of the team consists of members of St.Georges CC.   Click here for the report.

Parents and Kids Event Sun 3rd September cancelled!

The weather is pretty unpleasant at the moment, with more rain forecast for this afternoon. Therefore we have unfortunately decided to cancel the parents & kids event planned for today. (We could have done with yesterday’s weather….)

Charles Dillon Memorial Charity Match

Alex Dillon, Heath Forrester and Dom Musgrove would like to thank everybody who helped make the cricket match, held on Monday 28 August in memory of Charles Dillon, such a success.  In particular they would like to thank all the players who took part (see photos below), Ellen Hassall & Malcolm Webster for scoring, Steve Birkett & Dave Hassall for umpiring and St Georges Cricket Club for hosting the event.  They are pleased to announce that a fantastic total of £631 was raised for the Severn Hospice and thank everybody who contributed.  Well done Alex, Heath and Dom.
