Ball Hunting at Cound Chris Miller and Jamie Griffiths got our 1st XI off to a great start to 2015. Their 3rd wicket partnership of 272 (Miller 161, Griffiths 130 no) at Cound was the backbone of a total of 392/4 in 50 overs. Neil Davies and Mike Myatt were kept busy searching for balls in the adjoining field (left). Cound were bowled out for 215 with Ben Miller picking up 5 wickets. At home the 2nd XI had a close game v Cound, with St.Georges losing their last wicket with the last ball of the game finishing 5 runs short of victory. Cound 232/7, St.Georges 227 all out. Good batting contributions from Matt Conniffe (51) and veteran Fraser Watson (49). The 3rd XI started the season with a win at Overton-on-Dee. Star of the show was skipper Allan Myatt with 3 wickets in Overton’s 170/8 before scoring 49 with the bat, to help see us home by 4 wickets. The 4th XI had a tough start to the season with a home defeat to Ellesmere II. Our total of 97 was never enough and Ellesmere won by 9 wickets. However, it was good to see youngsters Cameron Watson and Harrison Jones-Peel making an impression with the bat whilst Alex Johnson took the only Ellesmere wicket.
