On the day that Newport deservedly confirmed themselves as champions, things did not go so well for our 1st XI at Bomere Heath. Although Chris Miller continued his good batting form with 48, and Josh Sedgley, Chris Waldron and Ben Byram chipped in, the Dragons total of 180 was clearly light. Lachlan Pember and Sam Bloor had no trouble in knocking the runs off for Bomere to give them an emphatic 8 wicket win. The 2nd XI put up 331/5 dec. at home to Welshpool with Ross Wilmot (100 no), Alex Dillon (96) and Jack Heath (68) in the runs. Welshpool managed to hold out for a draw, finishing on 131/9. The third XI were overpowered by a strong Wheaton Aston 1st XI. Chasing 189, we were skittled for 71, with Luke Blakemore taking 6/36 for the hosts. There was no 4th XI fixture due to Calverhall’s withdrawal from the league.
