The first XI’s batting didn’t really get going at home to Frankton in Week 18. Despite contributions from Gareth Hughes (41), Chris Waldron(27), Matt Chesters(31no) and Ben Byram(33), the total of 163/9 never really looked enough. Frankton were cruising it at 125/3 in 30 overs before the rain came. It didn’t stop, so that was that and Frankton had to go home disappointed. At Alberbury the 2nd XI bowled out the hosts for 128 with Chris Cousins, Sam Morgan and Aaron Musgrove sharing the wickets. The St.Georges innings started well enough, Avi Mathur grinding out 38 in his usual cautious fashion, but then came a collapse. Fortunately the experience of Mike Ross(38) and Chris Cousins(12) saw us through by 2 wickets, with Dave Pope still in the hutch. The 3rd XI match at home v Acton Reynald was reduced to 35 overs and St.Georges made 165/9 – Ross Wilmot(41), Bobby Gill(31), Jack Wilmot(27), Mike Parham(32) and restricted the visitors to 134/7 for a winning draw. A makeshift 4th XI had to chase 225 after Mike Lewis (111) and Elliot Mochan(76) had scored virtually all Ellesmere’s runs. Only Dom Musgrove(12), Jack Forrester(20) and Jack Underwood(22) made double figures as the Dragons were bowled out for 109.
