In the first week of the 2nd half a resurgent Wem visited St.Georges and restricted our 1st XI to 203/7, the backbone of which was Mo Zaheer’s 75. In reply Wem came within 13 runs of the total . Neil Davies took 4/48 and keeper Scott Peckham executed a neat stumping from the bowling of spinner Hitshu Bachani for last Wem wicket to give us a narrow win. The 2nd XIs winning streak of seven in a row came to an end at Wem, where they were bowled out for 180, despite 46 from Fraser Watson, batting at eight. The total wasn’t enough and Wem knocked the runs off in 38 overs. At Church Stretton Martin Nichols made 98 not out of the home team’s 211/4. Matt Chesters made 24 and Ross Wilmot 47 but in end the lower order had to hang on for a draw finishing on 182/9. Another win for the 4th XI at home to Alberbury thirds. The visitors were skittled for 142 in 30 overs with our bowlers sharing the wickets. A good stand by veteran Dave Chesters (45) and 14 year old Mike Parham (41) ensured victory before Mo Awais and Joe Gregory finished the job in 27 overs.
