Week 8 saw strong perfomances from all our teams in the blazing sunshine. The 1st XI climbed to third place in the table after a convincing win over Bomere Heath. Batting first, openers Gareth Hughes (40) and Mo Zaheer (56) put on over a hundred for the first wicket. Then a batting collapse saw us wobbling on 129/5. Sam Bloor (7/38) did the damage before Josh Sedgley (20) and Chris Waldron (52no) dug in and got the score up to 218/8. As last week, the total was more than adequate with Steve Taylor (6/44)  again in devastating form supported by Ben Byram (3/43). Bomere Heath 108 all out. The 2nd XI made it 4 wins on the trot and six out of 8. Liam Forrester 6/16 and veteran Fraser Watson  (4/33) bowled Welshpool out for 106. Avi Mathur, Sean Parkes and Mitchell Hoof made short work of the target , needing only 20 overs for a 7 wicket win. The 3rd XI very nearly overturned leaders Wheaton Aston who made 231/9 with Bobby Gill, Joe Gaut and Jack Wilmot getting the wickets. 53 from Bobby Gill, 57 from John Sadler and 39 from Matt Chesters helped take St.Georges  within four runs of victory, but it was not to be, and we had to settle for a high scoring losing draw. 4th XI fortunes are on the up again after a second successive win, this week away at Calverhall . 4/29 from Khurram Waris and 3/36 from Haider Raza saw the hosts dismissed for 111. Dom Musgrove and Mike Ross got the Dragons’ innings off to a good start and juniors Joe Gregory and Tom Griffiths finished the job for a comfortable 6 wicket win.
