In week 6 the 1st team posted 213/6 against Cound, with Chris Miller (76no) finding form after good contributions from Mo Zaheer(42) and Anuj Chandla(38). In reply Cound battled well to reach 181/6. With Ben Byram injured, Steve Taylor unavailable and Chris Greensall injured after only two overs our bowling options were stretched. Neil Davies bowled extremely well for 4/37 in his 15 overs, but opener David Langton(76no) could not be removed. At Cound the 2nd XI were all out for 250. Sam Morgan(56), Jon Parkes (87) and Matt Conniffe(36). Bowlers Mike Myatt,Liam Forrester and Jon Parkes took two wickets apiece before Sam Morgan took 4 quick wickets to mop up the tail as Cound were bowled out for 140. The 3rd XI had to settle for a losing draw after Shrewsbury made 250/8. Jack Heath(47), Ryan Forrester(39) and Bobby Gill(47no) took us to 221/9. The 4th XI managed to avoid a repeat of last weeks batting debacle at Grove by succesfully chasing down 118 after Steve Pessall returned figures of 6/33. Mike Ross and Dom Musgrove got some runs on the board before wickets began to tumble – St.Georges eventually winning by two wickets. Disappointingly the U10s opposition again cried off so they didn’t get a game. The U15s batted with much more application this week to make 240 in 40 overs against a young Newport side. Great innings from Mark Tolley (80 rtd not out), who was well supported by all the other batsmen. Cameron Rann (4/14) and Richard Sambrook (3/3) were the pick of the bowlers. St.Georges Ladies played a return fixture at Shifnal on Friday evening recording another win, the highlight of which was an awesome six by Fiona O’Sullivan.
