Junior Dragons in Action

A first taste of competitive cricket was experienced by a group of Junior Dragons (Under 8s) when Andy Johnson and Malcolm Webster organised an evening of Kwik Cricket games against Shifnal teams. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids of both clubs. A return event is planned, and also hopefully some similar games with other local clubs. (click the picture to enlarge)

Three Dragons batsmen have made three figure scores so far this season. Avi Mathur made 132 for the 2nd XI away at Fordhouses. Aussie Brendan O’Keefe made his maiden St.Georges hundred last week for the 1st XI at home against Coleshill, and 13 year old Jack Heath got his first ever ton for the U15s side at Shrewsbury.

St.Georges Under 11s

Eric & Millie Lomas

Tuesday May 3rd: It is with great sadness that we learned this morning of the passing of our club president, Eric Lomas.  Eric has been an extremely influential driving force at the club for several decades. He served as club chairman from 1985 until 2001, and has been our president since then. On the Shropshire cricket scene has was well-known, respected and popular. Although not in the best of health during the last couple of years, Eric continued to be involved with the

management of St.Georges Cricket Club. As many of you will already know, Eric’s wife, Millie, also an ardent supporter of the club, with whom he had been together for nearly seventy years, recently also died. The joint funeral is planned for Tuesday 17th May, 12:45 pm at St.Georges Church, followed by a short service at Telford Crematorium and afterwards at St.Georges Sports & Social Club. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Eric and Millie’s family. They will both be remembered with affection by everyone at St.Georges Cricket Club.
